you know that most business people can’t articulate the difference?

differences between coaching, management and leadership so you can know
when to coach, manage or lead. Most executives and managers don’t
know. This book gives specific help in its information-dense text.

Anyone provides a wide variety of practical recipes for
coaches to use in ‘facilitating people in their own commitment
and enthusiasm to accomplish their objectives.’ ”

In chapter
5 Jed and Germaine share with you a revolutionary perspective about coaching.
People aren’t coachable! Did you just say, “Oh, no!"
Take heart, this discovery will dramatically improve your coaching ability.
With the tips in chapter 5 you’ll learn how this discovery can free
you from unnecessary stress and immediately enhance your coaching effectiveness.
Learn the
four key player attributes: knowledge, skill, confidence and motivation.
Find out how to positively impact them and improve your players’
results in chapter 6.
Coaches should
only ask questions, right? Read chapter 4, The Coaching Scope, and then
see what you think. Coaches should never give advice, right? Again, see
chapter 4.
Ever wonder
when to talk and when to listen? Sure, you do. Coaches do, too. Coach
Anyone will give you a graphic guide to help you, the coach, answer that
question. See chapter 6 for the Coaching Spectrum.
| “If
you want to empower others to achieve extraordinary success, read
Coach Anyone About Anything now!”

While you’re
reading the authors intend for you to develop or polish your own Coaching
Philosophy. Although this will happen quite naturally for you, chapter
8 will give you some great tips to create Your Coaching Philosophy, a
vital tool for any coach to have.
You’ll
learn the system by which all players rate their coaches. And Germaine
and Jed will share with you the phenomenon they’ve discovered that
they call the “value drift.” It’s a little-recognized
and usually invisible force, always working against the coach—whether
veteran or novice. Find out how to see it working in your player and how
to use it to your advantage in chapter 9.
Chapter 13
gives you a tool unequaled in its facility to gain access to what is immediately
on your clients’ mind with regard to their dreams and objectives–the
DreamMakers & DreamBrakers Audit. What things are propelling them
to achieve their goals and what things are impeding them? Don’t
miss chapter 13!
| “Calling
on readers to intentionally operate from a coaching stance, Coach
Anyone outlines an approach that ensures a positive result through
creating and sustaining a powerful coaching relationship.”
- Gail Hughes, Vice President, Organization Capability, Chevy Chase

The telephone
has been around for over a century, yet most of us don’t know some
basic guidelines for how to use it most effectively, especially in coaching
situations. As a result it may seem like an inappropriate coaching tool.
Yet the telephone can be very effective and save countless prime-time
hours to invest elsewhere. See chapter 15 to find out how you can be an
effective coach by phone.
Coaching
teams? Although nearly all of the coaching concepts presented here can
be applied to teams, we have a special chapter with some unique tools
to help you guide teams to success, chapter 14.
Need a fast
way to get a handle on what your player/client’s business is all
about? See chapters 11 and 12. Chapter 11 offers a list of incisive questions
to gain the understanding you desire to effectively coach your business
client. Chapter 12 illustrates an interactive process to enable you and
your client to learn about her or his organization even more profoundly.

For those
of you who want to know how to get started in coaching as a profession
or further build your clientele, see chapter 16, How to Begin and Build
Your Coaching Business. You will find some marvelous networking and prospecting
tools and ways to answer every prospective player/client’s three
questions: Why coaching? Why you? and Why now? You’ll also discover
that the coaching profession has some inherent qualities that help you
grow your clientele like no other.
| “Best
coaching book on the market! The fundamentals for coaching in this
book are the basis for training our new business coaches. They and
our experienced coaches use Coach Anyone over and
over again as the reference to serve their clients.”
C.T. “Tex” Johnston, CEO, Johnston Consulting Group

In the final
chapter, Patience and Power, you will examine power itself and how it
applies to the privilege of coaching. Then the book is tied together by
illustrating uses for all the coaching tools you have been given in this
single chapter.
Finally,
you’ll get the Coaching Inventory, both a self-assessment and a
learning tool. It is designed to review, and in some instances, introduce
30 key coaching principles, structures, practices and approaches. It allows
you to assess your coaching ability.
Whether you’re
coaching a work team or an individual, the techniques shared in this book
will improve your effectiveness. Regardless of your experience level as
a coach, the keys contained in Coach Anyone will unlock your natural coaching
ability. Germaine and Jed ask,
“May we coach you? May we help you become a better coach to assist
anyone to succeed at anything?” If you want to be a more successful
leader, supporter and team member, your answer will be yes.

Although the book focuses on the work environment, don’t be surprised
if you experience personal breakthroughs in your role as a parent, spouse
or friend, as well.
In this book
you’ll find new terms or words used in ways that might be unfamiliar
to you. They are defined them immediately. For instance, we call the person
receiving your coaching “the player.” If you are coaching
a sports team, then this certainly makes sense. And, it also makes sense
when coaching a business team member or a client. He or she must participate
and perform; thus he or she is a player.
coach’-
ing: facilitating people in their own commitment and enthusiasm
